Project Brief

Create a three-day music festival, complete with performing roster, graphic system, brand manual, and event poster.

Process

1. Planning Document

Create a planning document for a three-day music festival with a minimum of three musicians/bands per day. Document must answer the following criteria:

  • A list of ten possible names for the event that are original and connect to the main vision of the festival

  • When and where the event will take place, including considerations for weather conditions and overall logistics

  • Invited musicians that will play at the event and what genre of music the event will be

  • Attendance expectation and research into musicians' attendances in the past

  • Price for event and ticket options: one-day, two-day, or three-day passes

  • Three day schedule, considering typical performance length per artist, time in-between for set changes, as well as biggest musicians typically finish the day

  • Event sponsors, how they connect to festival and consider their how their logos will fit into promotional material

  • At least five applications for graphic design: t-shirts, wristbands, poster design, flyer, tickets, social media, etc.

2. Brainstorming

Produce brainstorming exercise that includes expanding your knowledge of the musicians, genre of music, and location of event. Create a numbered word list of 100 words for musicians, genre, and location of event.

3. Conceptualization

Produce proposals three different for graphic system that can be applied to different formats and sizes.

4. Project Creation

Produce two documents to showcase how event design is applied. First document is an 18 x 24 poster that will promote the event with all information regarding the location, date and time, musicians playing, and companies sponsoring the event. The second document is a 18 x 24 brand manual, displaying all brand logos, typography, colors, and other visual language with descriptions for appropriate usage, as well as five selected graphic design applications.
